Debose wins ESPY, gets ready for Gator career
Incoming Gator freshman Andre Debose joined senior quarterback and former Heisman winner Tim Tebow in winning an ESPY award at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Debose was chosen along with incoming LSU freshman quarterback Russell Shepard for the Under Armour All-America Moment. The duo hooked up for a 92-yard touchdown pass in the Under Armour All-American Game.

Debose was mentioned by Gator head coach Urban Myer as a “must have” recruit. While playing under Mike Cullison at Seminole High School in Sanford (FL) the 5'11" 176 pound receiver accumulated more than 2,000 yards at wideout, running back and quarterback while rushing for 1,332 yards on 117 carries and scoring 12 touchdowns. Also at quarterback, Debose completed 25 of 44 pass attempts for 353 yards and four touchdowns. Debose picked Florida over Florida State, Georgia, LSU, and Southern Cal. He also chose not to join former Seminole teammates Ray Ray Armstrong and Dyron Dye, both of whom chose Miami. Tebow beat out, among others, 2008 Heisman winner Sam Bradford and MLB first round pick Stephen Strasburg, becoming the first two-time winner of the ESPY for College Male Athlete of the Year. Tebow was also a nominee for his speech after the Gators’ loss to Ole Miss, their only loss of the season.
