Fighting for the Irish

A brief summary and high light of the upcoming recruits for Notre Dame, including Spencer Boyd from Florida, who looks to add to their defensive backfield.

By Amelia Cypert

Thirteen promising athletes have now pledged to play for Notre Dame in the '09-'10 season, perhaps most notably 5-foot-10-inch defensive back Spencer Boyd. Boyd comes to the Irish from Cape Coral (Fla.) High School, with plans to boost their defensive backfield. He plans to make an official announcement on his decision this week, he told two Florida newspapers. According the Fort Myers News-Press, Boyd chose Notre Dame over offers from Michigan and Georgia, because as he put it, "the people and the coaching staff definitely think I can compete and play early. No matter what happens, having a degree from Notre Dame will make me successful." This news was corroborated by the Cape Coral Daily Breeze, to which Boyd also spoke.
