Braxton Miller and Huber Heights Wayne Huber Heights Wayne and Braxton Miller won the right to play for the Ohio Division I State title last weekend when they defeated Hilliard Davidson 28-14. The team has not been to the state title since 1999. They will play Lakewood St Edwards in Canton at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Field, officially Fawcett Stadium. The game will take place at 7pm on Saturday with the Wayne Warriors considered the visitors. Braxton Miller Highlights, Huber Heights Wayne St Edwards finished their regular season 14-0 and have beaten Mentor, Glenville, Solon and Toledo Whitmer in the playoffs thus far. Wayne had a little bit of a more difficult time during the regular season, finishing the year 11-3 and securing the 8th seed. In the playoffs they have defeated Middleton, Centerville, St Xavier, and Hilliard-Davidson. Losing top prospect Braxton Miller early in the season due to an ankle injury set them back until his return. St Edwards features a power running game with tailbacks Terrell Bates and Reggie Terrell along with quarterback Kevin Burke. Bates has 1,263 yards and 17 touchdowns this year. Terrell rushed for 907 yards and 14 touchdowns. While Burke put up 1.054 yards rushing an 14 TDs on the ground. Wayne found that they were unable to completely rely on quarterback sensation Miller when they lost in week six of the season. The team has stepped up their play and finished the remaining games with wins. Miller has passed for 1,972 yards with 15 touchdowns. The team also features a nice tailback in Anthone Taylor who rushed for 1,529 and 13 touchdowns. |
