Ohio State Picks up Recruit Tyvis Powell in the Midst of Coach and Quarterback Exodus

A die-hard Buckeye fan from Bedford Ohio, cornerback Tyvis Powell, selects Ohio State over offers from Michigan State and West Virginia. In the midst of Head Coach Jim Tressel resigning and rumors surrounding the future of Terrelle Pryor at Ohio State, Powell committed to the Scarlet and Gray for their 2012 recruiting class which has now reached 8 players.

By Steve Patterson

Powell contacted Ohio State cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson the morning of Jim Tressel’s resignation and was encouraged by what the position coach told him about the program. The 6’4” 195 lbs. back is ready to attend the college he wanted to be a part of since childhood. He sees Ohio State as a great opportunity to earn a degree and move to the NFL. A number of cornerbacks have been drafted from Ohio State in the past and their defense continues to produce great talent year after year.

He plans to camp at Ohio State this summer and is looking forward to other teams challenging him this coming season at Bedford, knowing that he was recruited by the Buckeyes.
