Florida Safety Jeremy Cash Commits to Ohio State

6’2” 185lbs defensive back Jeremy Cash became the ninth member of the Buckeye 2011 recruiting class, which could number between 20 and 22, this past weekend. The prospect from Plantation Florida is much needed after the team lost their 2 starting safeties to graduation this past year. He had offers from Ohio State, Colorado, Florida State, Miami (FL), Nebraska, South Florida, Wake Forest and Wisconsin before making his college selection.

Cash committed to OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel over the weekend of April 17th and is now set to visit this weekend for the Scarlet v Gray Spring Game. Buckeye fans should be excited to see the new recruit on campus and on the sidelines during the game. If he can bring his tough nosed defensive play to Ohio State, he will fit in well with the Silver Bullet defense that ranks near the top of college football every year.

As a junior Cash had 96 Tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 5 forced fumbles. He is currently ranked a three star recruit by Scout.com and the 23rd overall Safety prospect in the country. These numbers could be adjusted upward during his senior year as more tape becomes available and another outstanding year on the field warrants.

Cash liked the winning tradition, the stability in the coaching staff, and the solid atmosphere available for football players at Ohio State. Coach Tresel is known for promoting more than just football, but a well rounded philosophy of life that players can follow long after their football careers have ended.

Cash hopes to convince a couple more recruits from Florida to become Buckeyes this weekend as many top prospects will be in Columbus for the Spring Game. Wayne Lyons (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), Jabari Gorman (Miami Pace), and A.J. Sebastiano (North Broward HS, Florida) are thought to be travelling to Ohio Stadium for the game on Saturday.
