Nick Montana Following Father Joe to Notre Dame?

According to reports, Nick Montana isn't set on following his famous father to Notre Dame but is rather keeping his options open as he is recruited by most of the major programs across the country. That might not be the case with the rest of his immediate family which has either graduated from Notre Dame or are currently enrolled.

South Bend Spring Game

Montana is planning on attending the Spring Game in South Bend as his brother is a freshman walk-on quarterback for the Irish. The chance to see his brother play and the opportunity to spend time at Notre Dame with the rest of his family is something he is looking forward to.

Texas Out, Ohio State Alive

Other schools to get visits so far have been Ohio State and Texas. Texas may be out of the picture though. The Longhorns received a commitment from quarterback Connor Wood recently and already have quarterback Case McCoy ready to sign in 2010, making a third quarterback unneeded for the class. Ohio State on the other hand is making Montana a priority and have promised to not offer any other quarterbacks while he is still undecided.

Two Montana's at Notre Dame

Notre Dame does have a slight conflict if Nick Montana was to commit to them. They would have two Montana's on the roster at the same position both competing for playing time. That might be something Nick would want to avoid. Thus leaving the door open for Ohio State or one of the other 12 programs that have already offered scholarships. Yet he maintains that competing with his brother is not an issue.

Montana is planning on ending his recruitment early by committing to one of the schools in the spring.
