Who Will Make the Goal as Notre Dame Quarterback 2010? Now that quarterback Jimmy Clausen has decided to join the National Football League draft this year, there is a lot of speculation about who will be named to the coveted spot as Notre Dame Quarterback 2010. A spectacular player, Clausen is ending his college career with a record of 60 touchdowns and having thrown 8,148 passing yards (including 452 thrown in his finest game against Navy in 2009). As a result, Clausen is expected to be among the top five draft picks and is currently be sought after as their first pick by such teams as the Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, and St. Louis Rams, among others. The question now remains as to who will take his place with the "Fighting Irish." Among the favored contenders seems to be Andrew Hendrix, a 6’3”, 220 lb powerhouse from Ohio, with a speed of 4.7. Although he seemed set to join Ohio State, the offer made by the Scarlet and Gray has him weighing his options carefully. In addition, Hendrix was offered more than sixteen scholarships by other schools including Miami, Cincinnati, Illinois and Louisville, to name a few. Another strong contender is Tommy Rees, son of a former coach for both college and the NFL, who came to Notre Dame with a highly praised career in high school. Rees has been placed in the #1 position on the team’s depth chart, along side Nate Montana, who rejoined the school after one season in California. Of course, there is always the chance that the coaching staff will pick some other “diamond in the rough” they can polish for the spot. |
