Roderick Smith, 2010 Running Back Looking Hard at the Buckeyes

Roderick Smith, 2010 Running Back Looking Hard at the Buckeyes

Ohio State brought in three very good running backs for their 2009 recruiting class and have started the 2010 recruiting season with a couple of offers to two of the best running backs in the country, Corey Brown and Roderick Smith. Indiana Harding running back Roderick Smith has run for over 1,000 yards three years in a row, received an offer from Ohio State recently, and is very interested in the Buckeyes after a visit to campus.

Power Back

With one offer from Ohio State and another from the Iowa Hawkeyes, Smith is looking hard at the Buckeyes. The 6'3" 200 lbs power back is a perfect fit for the Big Ten physical running load and took notice of Chris Beanie Wells the last two years. Wells ran for consecutive 1,000 plus yard seasons and will be drafted by an NFL team in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft in a month.

Spring Game Visit Planned

Smith will return to campus again during the spring for practices and the annual Scarlet vs Gray Spring Game. He hopes to wait until shortly before his senior season to commit to a school. So the Buckeyes will have to wait until the fall for a commitment. In recruiting, getting an offer pre-season is still quite early. Other schools showing interest include Iowa, Oklahoma, Purdue, Arkansas, and Michigan State.
