OSU Basketball Update With Thoughts From Coach Thad Matta

Time will tell how Ohio State Basketball Coach Thad Matta decides to use a newly slimmed-down upcoming sophomore Jared Sullinger. In response to a reporter's question asking him how much he weighs, Sullinger responded by slyly informing the reporter of his official, printed roster weight of 280 pounds.

Claiming that he's lost about 10 to 15 pounds since the end of last season, Sullinger now states that his weight stays at about 272 pounds. The weight loss was achieved, Sullinger says, largely by boxing in the offseason while away from OSU Basketball.

The powerful player assures us that his slimmer figure will not translate into a less powerful game, indicating that his game should be no less dominating than ever.

Over the summer, Sullinger has been enjoying college life, taking courses, attending camps, and keeping in shape, deciding to stick around campus in order to acclimate himself to OSU's incoming class of freshmen.

Sullinger states that coach Thad Matta considers him to be a junior, not a sophomore, based on his experience level, and newfound leadership. Sullinger has also added some new moves, particularly with his face-to-the-basket game.

Coach Thad Matta will have some fun decisions to make regarding OSU Basketball's star player as the new season approaches with dates against Kansas, Florida, and Duke already scheduled.
