D'Angelo Russell Chooses The 2014 Ohio State Program

Nonetheless, recently, the Ohio state basketball program had some big news, when D'Angelo Russell committed to Thad Matta's recruiting class for 2014. The 5 star prospect from Louisville chose Ohio State, rather than Memphis and Michigan State (amongst others).

He is the 4th signing to commit to Matta in what looks like a game changing recruitment year. Matta both managed to land Russell, and he succeeded in keeping his talented signing away from the other team on Russell's radar, the Big Ten Spartans. Russell will be joining a group which already boasts commitments from Jae'Sean Tate, David Bell and Keita Bates Diop.

Tate and Bates Diop both have the same elite ability that Russell possesses, and all 3 will jostle for instant playing time during 2014. As well as enhancing the chances of Ohio State at the top level nationally, Russell offers Matta an additional recruitment tool in the fight to acquire the loyalty of Jahlil Okafor. Center Okafor is regarded as the country's best player for 2014 (reports claim that currently, Jared Sullinger is attempting to persuade Okafor to wear the Scarlet and Grey). Recently, Russell said that he intends to recruit Okafor to play alongside him at Columbus.
