Ben Christman On Recruiting and Staying at Home

Yes, recruiting for the 2021 college football season has already started. Ohio State's fourth recruit is Ben Christman, a four-star offensive tackle, making him the school's first offensive line recruit for 2021. Christman is currently in his junior year at Revere High in Richfield, Ohio, so he's another home state recruit, which seems to be the trend at OSU right now. He's a big guy, at 6'6", 299 pound, according to 247Sports. Christman was recruited by Greg Studrawa and Tony Alford.

How Christman Ranks

Christman is considered one of the best lineman in the state. He's ranked as the No. 9 offensive tackle in the country for 2021 and No. 44 overall. In the state of Ohio he's rated No. 2.

His recruitment also means that OSU has recruited the top two in-state prospects for back to back years. This kind of homegrown talent sticking around is exciting to see. "You can make the argument that Ohio's the best state for high school talent," Christman reportedly said. "You have so many guys that go on to play Division I and in the NFL. It speaks for itself. Ohio's where football was originated so you have to think that it's the best."

Back in June, Christman took to Twitter and announced his commitment: "COMMITTED!! I'm staying HOME…" He's obviously thrilled to stay in Ohio and be part of Buckeye football!

What Other Options Did Christman Have to Consider Outside of Ohio State?

Ben also had offers from Alabama, Florida, Michigan, and Notre Dame, all known for their football programs, so it says something that he chose Ohio State.

Why Christman picked Ohio State?

Christman is clearly a big fan of Buckeye football (I mean, who isn't around here, right?!), and joining "The Brotherhood" as he put it has been a dream of his. Now it's come true. The young star also seems very pleased to be staying in his home state, and is also excited about the wave of other recruits from within Ohio.

What Does Ben Christman Have to Offer?

Clearly a lot (I mean the guy's is 6'6", 300!). Seriously though, most college recruits are still growing and haven't reached their full stature yet. Even if that were the case for Christman, he'll already have no problems as far as meeting the size requirements for his position. He already has the strength as well. The young man's size and strength make him nearly unstoppable upon contact. He should come out of high school ready to go, and that's not easy to find, And he's not just big and strong; Christman has extraordinary control over his movements, especially for an offensive tackle.

The other exciting thing about Ben Christman is he's set on bringing in other talent from within Ohio. In an interview with Cleveland.com, Christman said: "We're trying to really bring in some great guys, especially from Ohio, We're going to try and bring all the top guys from Ohio with us. I'm just excited." That's just cool to hear.

Ben Christman's recruitment is clearly a big achievement for Ohio State, and we can only wait till 2021 to see how it bears fruit.
