Film: Allan Wasonga Gridiron Glory Player of the Year Candidate By Steve Patterson Allan Wasonga has put up two years of great numbers to become the number one recruited player in the state of West Virginia for 2011. As a sophomore at Parkersburg he ran for over 1,900 yards and 23 touchdowns. His junior year he added a couple more hundred yards and scored four more times. The highlight for Wasonga has been the teams playoff birth. “The highlight of my career would have to be leading my team to a playoff appearance last year.” he reported to us recently. Some very good teams have already offered scholarships while Wasonga has visited four that programs that really stood out to him but have not necessarily offered just yet. “I’ve visited West Virginia, Penn State, Tennessee, and Virginia tech. I have a lot more visits to take though.” he explained about his upcoming visit schedule. He plans to make a decision in a couple of months once he gets more exposure to a larger number of schools. “As far as making a decision. I'm just trying to give other colleges time to recruit me and I’ll probably make a decision halfway through the season.” Wasonga would like to play early at his college selection. “I like the campuses and coaching staff at the colleges on my top list also the possibility of early playing time is extremely attractive.” he told us about the schools that he likes. A Big Ten offer or a SEC offer could be just what he is waiting for. |
