Ryan Shazier Is A Promising Addition To Buckeyes
Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier is not one of the strongest linebackers in college. Nor the heaviest. Or the most fearsome or intimidating. What he does offer however, is raw athleticism and speed at the position that simply cannot be matched. His quickness lets him run down ball carriers, get to quarterbacks, and evade offensive linemen with ease. His speed was obvious to anybody who had watched any of his performances while he played at Plantation High School.
That speed carried over to his first year at OSU when he played in 13 games, starting in three. His statistics were impressive, considering he did not get as much playtime as the veterans. Ryan blew away everybody in the first game he started, totaling up 15 tackles against Penn State. For the entire season, he had 57 tackles, three sacks, a blocked punt, and two forced fumbles. Ryan Shazier is clearly a competitor who has the ability to make game changing plays on the football field.
Ryan Shazier is 6'3, and initially weighed in at 205 lbs. He is working with the strength coach, Mickey Marotti, in order to pack some muscle onto his lean build so he can be an even more impressive threat. Buckeye fans are incredibly happy to see such a player on their team. With more games and experience under his belt, Ryan Shazier is someone to watch during the 2012 college football season.
