Michael Thomas was a premier receiver in the class of 2011 out of California Taft and remains a prime target out of prep school in 2012. He has spent the past Semester at Fork Union Military Academy with Ohio State quarterback recruit Cardale Jones as a roommate. Now he is looking to join Jones at Ohio State in January and begin to prepare to contribute in 2012, according to rumors.
At 6’4” 203 lbs, Thomas is considered one of the best recruits in the country once again. He recently narrow his list down to Oklahoma State, Ohio State and Notre Dame. When asked about his top three he mentioned that all three programs pass the ball (Ohio State?) and have young receivers, leaving open the depth chart for a standout receiver in 2012. He plans to visit the Buckeyes on the 29th of October when they play Wisconsin at home at night.
Getting Thomas along with Jones in the Ohio State 2012 class would be very desirable for the coaching staff in Columbus, who has struggled slightly after losing head coach Jim Tressel to NCAA violations. Thomas would join receivers Frank Epitropoulos and Roger Lewis in the 2012 Ohio State class. Both receivers are rated 3 stars by Rivals.com and are ranked in the 80s nationally at the position. Thomas was considered the 36th best receiver in 2011 and a 4 star recruit. He had 13 scholarship offers before deciding to improve his academics at Fork Union in Virginia. His uncle is Keyshawn Johnson.
