This Offensive Tackle from Odessa Texas
is a physical specimen in addition to being a leader on the field. At 6’6” 308
lbs and having 5.2 sec 40 speed, Porter is able to control offensive lineman
and defensive lineman as he has played both sides of the ball.

Finisher
The sixth
best offensive tackle in the country Porter feels his athletic ability sets him
apart on the football field. “My best attributes would have to be my feet and
balance and ability to finish blocks.” He told us recently. “I think it is
something like 102 pancake and 114 knockdowns.” He reported to us about his
statistics for the year at Permian
High School.
The 49th best overall
prospect in the nation, Porter was recently selected as an Army All-American
and will play in the High School All Star Bowl in San Antonio on January 3rd.
But the highlight of his career has been the undefeated league record his team
has accomplished. “My highlight would be going back to back 10-0 district
champs.”
Four Solid Offers
He had a number of great offers including
scholarships from Texas, Texas
Tech, Virginia, and Arizona. “I visited the University of Texas, Texas A&M,
and Texas Tech. I thought that UT was the place for me. I was
looking for the place with a family atmosphere.” He explained about his early
February commitment to the Longhorns.
Early Commitment
With his commitment to Texas
February 2nd 2008 on a Junior Day visit all the other program that
were once in contention have stopped calling Porter. “Schools have stopped
bugging me haha.” He joked about being able to focus on his high school degree
and final football season.
What was it that set Texas apart from all the
other schools? “I enjoy the tradition of winning and the way that the program
is known around the nation to have class.” He said.
