Tommy Schutt Commits to Ohio State for 2012

Tommy Schutt had between 30 and 35 scholarship offers when he made the selection to play from Penn State over the summer of 2011. But plans changed with the firing of Joe Paterno after a child sex scandal within his program was exposed. And with a visit over the weekend to Ohio State to meet the new Buckeye coach, Urban Meyer, Schutt has decided to switch his verbal commitment to OSU.

He is a national recruit rated in the top 5 country-wide at the defensive tackle position. The best player in Illinois, Schutt is a great addition to the Ohio State 2012 class that lacked a true defensive tackle. He wanted to get things over and focus on the season and he is now able to relax and focus on the remainder of his high school year. He liked Penn State, Wisconsin, Florida and Notre Dame before committing to Penn State. On the visit to Ohio State he spoke at great length with Meyer and got to meet a number of players on the team.

Being near Chicago, he likes the play of Julius Peppers a current Chicago Bears defensive end. He also had the goal of winning the state championship in Illinois during the season this year.
