Virginia Tech Center Might Transfer to Ohio State

Trevor Thompson

Ohio State needs help at the center position after their failed run in the NCAA this year. They have been in contact with Virginia Tech player Trevor Thompson who has been released from his scholarship and is looking for a new team. Thompson has a long list of teams that he would like to join and is looking at setting up visits shortly. Arizona, Auburn, Kentucky, Nebraska, Georgetown, Kansas, Florida, Ohio State, Purdue, and Xavier are a few of the colleges he is considering.

As a bench player with VaTech, he started 10 games and played in 29 total. He averaged 4.7 rebounds and 5.0 points per game. Because he wants to transfer from a Division I to another Division I school he will need to sit out a year, which won’t help OSU right away. But when he is available to play, he will have 3 years of eligibility.

The Buckeyes and Thad Matta have two scholarships to give out and possibly more. LaQuinton Ross is considering going pro shortly, which would open up an additional spot. Centers Amir Williams and Junior backup Trey McDonald only have one more year before they graduate the program. Dave Bell is the young one of the group that will be remaining after the 2014-2015 season.
