Damon Webb Commits to Ohio State for 2014

Damon Webb, from Detroit Cass Tech, made a visit to Ohio State over the weekend of January 11th along with a set of high caliber 2013 football recruits. A basketball game against the Wolverines helped pull a Michigan player away from the team-up-north. Urban Meyer and the OSU coaching staff came away with Webb’s commitment for the 2014 class. The 5’11” 180lbs corner back/receiver will add depth at skill positions in great need by the Buckeyes.

Webb spend the weekend meeting the staff and hearing about the academics at Ohio State with his parents. What he heard was enough for him to select the Buckeyes over Michigan, LSU and Michigan State. As a junior he had 42 tackles, 10 pass breakups, some forced fumbles and 7 interceptions. His team won 2 straight titles in the State of Michigan. OSU plans to use him as a defensive back at the next level.

Early rankings have him rated a 4 star recruit for 2014, he’s the 82nd best player nationally and the 8th best corner. Webb became the 2nd recruit for the 2014 class following a Christmas day commitment from Cleveland Glenville lineman Marcelys Jones.
