The Good

Beno Cook of ESPN has included Chris Wells as one of three Heisman Trophy preseason favorites.  The other two are last year's winner Tim Tebow of Florida and Chase Daniel of Missouri.

The NFL Network has named OSU as the 4th best Football Factory.  As is too often the case with the traditional media, Notre Dame gets more love than it deserves as the 3rd ranked school.  Even former ND QB Joe Theisman found that hard to swallow.  USC was ranked 1st, Miami 2nd and that school up north was rated 5th.

Finally some good news in the Terry Glenn saga.  In an interview with Jerry Jones, the Dallas Morning Star reported that the owner said the Boys were not in the market for another veteran WR.  He also said that talks with Glenn's agent were “progressing.”  If however no agreement can be reached, Glenn may well be released and the Boys would shop for a replacement.

Tyler Everett is currently listed as the top reserve behind often maligned Cowboy Roy Williams.  This is news only because Williams’s inability to cover anything that moves faster than a fire hydrant makes his a serious liability in pass coverage.  Williams has been selected to the All Pro team in the last couple of years on reputation alone.  While he is outstanding as the 8th man in the box against the run, Everett may replace him in passing situations.

According to Miles Brand of the NCAA, both Greg Oden and Mike Conley have attended class at OSU during the off season.  Good for them.

Six OSU players have been named to the watch list of two of the most important post season awards.  Senior quarterback Todd Boeckman, senior wide receiver Brian Robiskie and junior running back Chris Wells Named to the Maxwell watch list is.  The Bednarik watch list for the best defensive player in College football includes senior linebackers Marcus Freeman and James Laurinaitis and senior cornerback Malcolm Jenkins.

Nate Salley is currently listed as the starter in the latest version of Yahoo Sports depth charts of the Carolina Panthers.  He will receive a stiff challenge in camp from ex-Cardinal FA S Terrence Holt.

The Bad

In more news from Carolina, Na'il Diggs faces serious competition from FA ex-Bengal LB Landon Johnson who was signed to a 3 year $10M contract.  Diggs is getting the first chance to hold his spot and thus far is doing OK.

The Ugly

Eugene Clifford was arrested as was previously reporter here.
