On CBS HQ on April 6, Hartford committed to Ohio State University. When asked why he chose the Buckeyes, he emphasized the football program and the school's excellence. Hartford's key recruiters were new OSU defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and safety coach Perry Eliano.
