Ohio State added to their already top ranked 2021 recruiting class this week by getting a commitment from IMG Academy (Bradenton Florida) strong-side defensive end prospect Tunmise Adeleye. Adeleye is considered the 7th best SDE in the country and the 41st overall best prospect. He had over 30 scholarship offers including schools like Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas, LSU and Alabama.

On Wednesday he committed to the Buckeyes on Social Media saying that he was 100% committed. Ohio State now has 16 players in its upcoming class. A large number ranked in the ESPN top 300.

Adeleye played his first three years of high school at Katy Tompkins High School is Katy Texas. For his senior year he will be at IMG Academy. He offers rare explosiveness and quick hands that got him noticed across the country. His size leads some to feel that his future is at the tackle position instead of on the end. Ohio State loves his versatility and will could use him at either position.

Tunmise Adeleye Visits

Adeleye visited Texas A&M, Florida and Miami in addition to Ohio State in June at a Junior Day. Of course all visits have been banned by the NCAA while the country deals with the COVID 19 pandemic.

D-line coach Larry Johnson has not clarified with Adeleye were he will play on the line but will discuss the matter more when both are together in Columbus soon. Johnson is considered one of the best d-line development coaches in the country, something that drew Adeleye to the Buckeyes.

Why Ohio State?

Adeleye likes the strong academics, experienced coaching staff, and great game-day atmosphere at Ohio State. Ohio State also consistently pursues national titles and puts defensive lineman into the NFL, something most prospects are looking for.

Adeleye visited Ohio State in June at a Junior Day after meeting assistant Kenny Anunike at a camp in Houston Texas. His primary recruiter became defensive coordinator Greg Mattison at that June event. His relationship with all the coaches continued to grow through calls and messages until he didn’t want to wait to decide any longer.

4-star DE Tunmise Adeleye commits to Ohio State

Ohio State 2021 Class

Adeleye is 6’3” 240lbs and joins Jack Sawyer as top defensive ends in the 2021 class for OSU. Highly recruited defensive tackle Mike Hall also recently joined the class. The Ohio State 2021 class could include 5 or 6 defensive line recruits when finished. Getting Adeleye could help Ohio State land other IMG Academy prospects Kamar Wilcoxson (Safety) and JC Latham (Offensive Tackle), both considered 4 star recruits.
