Ohio State Receives A Verbal Commitment From Cornerback Wayne Davis

Wayne Davis

Everyone was eagerly waiting for Ohio State to add another player to their roster. The team received a verbal commitment from a new cornerback on Thursday, but it wasn't the player everyone was expecting to hear from.

Three-star cornerback Wayne Davis made his commitment to Ohio State via Twitter on Thursday afternoon. The 24/7sports.com composite ratings lists him as the 320th recruit amongst the players in the class of 2016.

As the day went on, Jared Mayden told the public that he also planned to reveal his collegiate choice at The Opening. Ohio State and Oregon are looking like the top 2 choices for this four-star cornerback from Texas.

Ohio state replied to the Davis commitment in a tactful but enthusiastic manner. Their reply on Twitter was typical but polite as well.

Wayne Davis is the 17th player to make a commitment to Ohio State's 2016 class. He currently attends Lake Taylor High School, which is the same high school Ohio State defensive-end Jaylin Holmes attended. This is good news and a good deal for OSU, especially since Virginia's review and selection process is so competitive.
