Denzel Ward Is Ready For The Buckeyes

Denzel Ward

It may take a race to prove who is the fastest, but Denzel Ward may be even faster than Dontre Wilson. Ward says he came up short of a win during the Smokehouse race due to a bad jump. He was disappointed that he did not win this camp drill, and he hoped to do better than his posted 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash as well. Denzel Ward was smiling despite these results since it truly was an exceptional day for him.

Ward had just left the Woody Hayes Athletic Center after obtaining and accepting an offer from Ohio State to become the newest member of the 2015 Buckeye recruiting class. Coach Urban Meyer was well acquainted with his speed despite his latest running performance.

Ward proved that his cornerback skills included more than just raw speed and that he had a lot to contribute to the Buckeye organization. Meyer loves fast players, and Ward was eager to accept the Ohio State scholarship offer.Ward stated that he was ready to accept before he arrived for his Ohio State visit.

Ward informed cleveland.com that his fastest 40-yard dash was clocked at 4.31 seconds, and he confirmed this after making his verbal commitment. So the question remains whether Denzel Ward is faster than Dontre Wilson, but Ward says he would have to race him to know for sure. This should not be taken as lack of confidence since Ohio State was eager to have him join their upcoming recruiting class.

Ward did not have a lengthy list of scholarship offers, but he turned down offers from Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Rutgers, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Syracuse, Ohio, and Washington State. Rivals.com rated Ward as a 3-star prospect and as 54th cornerback in the entire class.

Ward is still raw, but he is optimistic about his future as an Ohio State Buckeye.
