Ohio State's Recruitment Process For 2014

The recruiting of an elite football team is a balancing act, and very few coaches are able to to it better than urban Meyer. The Ohio State football team with 22 recruits is a perfect example of this. The main concern for the Buckeyes for the upcoming season, has been the offensive line and the linebacker. However, Meyer and some other coaches have been successful in addressing these concerns, prior to the official signing day.

How did Ohio Handle This?

Mike Mitchell and Trey Johnson were brought in by the Buckeyes to fill out the depth. Additionally 4 highly regarded 4-star recruits were secured by Meyer. Early last year, the search commenced when Sam Hubbard made known his commitment to the Buckeyes and soon after Kyle Berger did the same. Six weeks after Berger made his announcement, Dante Booker followed suit, resulting in 3 of the best linebackers being signed to the Ohio State football team. In the 2014 recruiting cycle, the hottest prospect for the Buckeyes was Raekwon McMillan, the 5-star linebacker. According to 247 sports, this group of linebackers is the best so far in the country.

Offensive Line
The biggest concern for Ohio State in the recruiting process for 2014 was the offensive line. When Ohio lost four of its 5-starters at the same time last season, a questionable depth was created. The situation this year seems quite similar. The Buckeyes have to bring in their five recruits, as this is the only way to deal with the situation. In December 2012, Marcelys Jones expressed his commitment, and so did Kyle Trout, who is an offensive tackle from Lancaster and is highly regarded. Both Trout and Jones enrolled very early.
 
Another target that Meyer wants to successfully acquire is Jamarco Jones, who has shown interest in Michigan State, which is unfortunate for Meyer and his team. Before closing the recruiting for 2014, Meter was able to flip Brady Taylor and Demetrius Knox, to commit to the Buckeyes.  If Ohio State keeps Jones in the fold, then they will have the No. 2 offensive line class in the entire country. The Buckeyes have definitely done enough for the 2014 recruiting.
