It’s Final: Glenville’s Marshon Lattimore And Erick Smith Are Going To Ohio State
The West produced an impressive performance against the East in the US Army All American Bowl but that wasn't the only action going on this weekend. Outstanding players Marshon Lattimore and Erick Smith of Glennville High School have finally revealed where they are going to play in college. The inseparable duo has verbally committed to Ohio State and will soon suit up for the Buckeyes.
There was much speculation concerning the two highly ranked athletes before the game. Smith was trying to delay his announcement in the hopes of entertaining more offers. In the end, we was persuaded to make it official and his teammate Lattimore followed with his own announcement soon after.
The two have been playing together since seventh grade and are a lot like brothers. Their familiarity with each other's game should serve them well once they are in Ohio. It's worth noting that another Glenville player, Marcelys Jones, will be tearing it up for the Buckeyes as well. Jones made his commitment a little bit earlier.
It appears that Smith and Lattimore had this move planned all along but chose to keep it a secret from everyone for a long time, probably to gain more leverage and keep their options open in case another school made a tempting offer. Indeed, Tennessee, USC, Oregon, Penn State, Alabama, Maryland, and Michigan State all tried to get Lattimore with scholarship offers. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer did everything he could to recruit the two talented prospects and his efforts paid off this weekend.
