Heading into the 2013 college football season, the Ohio State football program will look to come back to national prominence as they will once again be eligible for post-season play. While the Buckeyes had a great season last year, not being able to qualify for the BCS title game has hurt their recruiting efforts and could affect the program for years to come. The program was dealt another blow earlier this week when star wide receiver Derek Kief chose to attend Alabama starting in 2014.
Kief is a four-star recruit from Cincinnati, OH. Being so close to Columbus, it was assumed that he would end up joining the Buckeyes. However, Kief has decided to go another route by joining the defending national champions.
What made the announcement a bit unusual was the way that Kief went about telling the world about his decision. Through his own personal blog, Kief posted a video where he made his announcement in front of several friends and family members. Kief has used the blog to provide details about his personal life, the upcoming football season, and the recruiting process. The star wide receiver made his decision public in a creative way as well. Instead of picking an Alabama hat, he unveiled a young baby wearing an Alabama Crimson Tide onesie.
The wide-out is the first wide receiver to join Alabama's 2014 recruiting class, which is shaping up to be another dominant group of freshman. The Crimson Tide have already signed several four and five-star recruits
