Kyle Berger And Ohio State Football

The rich get richer as the Big 10 NCAA powerhouse Ohio State football program landed one of the most vaunted high school prospects in the nation in Kyle Berger.  Berger, a linebacker from St. Ignatius high school, committed to the 2014 recruiting class for OSU.  Why is Berger so highly regarded?  At six foot three and two hundred and five pounds, he is a bit undersized in comparison to most NCAA linebackers, though with two years on the clock he has plenty of time to bulk up.  Though his size may not be all that impressive, he was considered the sixth best football prospect in the state of Ohio, making his commitment to the Ohio State football program a huge boost to their in-state commitments.

Kyle Berger, a rushing linebacker in the mold of Von Miller or JJ Watt, can step in and have an immediate impact on Urban Meyer's Ohio State football squad.  As the seventh commitment to Ohio States' 2014 incoming class, he will line up next to Cincinnati product Sam Hubbard on the defensive line in an attempt to stop the elite running backs of the Big 10.  Considering the Buckeyes are already lapping many NCAA football recruiting efforts in Ohio (to say nothing of those in the rest of the Big 10), it is a great sign that the program is committed to a winning season.  The measure of many NCAA football programs is the recruiting ability of their in-state talent and Ohio State under head coach Urban Meyer appears ready to seize the throttle for the next season.

Kyle Berger projects as an outside linebacker who is able to provide coverage and close up gaps in the defensive line.  With explosive speed, he is able to blitz quickly at a moment's notice.
