In addition to OSU, Ransom made official visits to UTA, Notre Dame, LSU and Oklahoma. Lathan Ransom used his last official visit to OSU where he would fatefully end up committing to.

Why he selected Ohio State?

In an interview with Bucknuts, Ransom stated he chose the OSU program due to his belief in what coaches Jeff Hafley and Ryan Day are accomplishing there. He also stated he was in constant contact with the two and that they were actively making an effort in recruiting. Looking at the OSU recruiting class now, it is visible Coach Day is attempting to assemble a super class for the upcoming year. Just before the spring period came to an end, the Buckeyes had only one defensive player commit, but with Lathan Ransom choosing OSU, the class roster now boasts eight defensive commits. Ransom will play the free safety position at OSU and will be counted on to turn around the OSU defensive blunder that cost them many yards, points and big plays in the 2018 season. Lathan Ransom is set to be a primary mover of the Buckeyes defense and is seemingly their lead player on that side of the ball.

OSU 2020 Class

In addition to Lathan Ransom, the Buckeyes 2020 super class includes commitments from quarterback Jack Miller, star wide receivers Gee Scott Jr. and Julian Fleming, a stacked lineup of offensive linemen and a few other defensive stars including 4-star defensive end Darrion Henry, 4-star linebacker Cody Simon and 4-star cornerback Lejond Cavazos. Lathan Ransoms impressive athletic ability as a safety is highlighted in his combine stats of a 4.67 forty-meter dash, a 4.25 second shuttle run and a 33-inch vertical jump placing him at the top of his class in terms of athletic ability. With the other players in his OSU recruiting class also boasting impressive times and numbers in their athletic ability evaluations, it is clear to see Ohio State is going to be a reckoning force in the upcoming season. The coaches at OSU are seemingly trying to create a team of star studded players in attempts to increase their chances of making a playoff run, and throwing star safety Lathan Ransom into the mix certainly boosted them ahead of several other teams.

Conclusion

All in all, Lathan Ransom is a star player dubbed with a difficult task of bringing back the OSU defensive pride after a rather lacking season. With his promising talent, Lathan Ransom is sure to bring the OSU defensive squad together and get them firing on all engines again to complete a successful season.
