Three star Safety Jahsen “ShowTime” Wint has committed to be a member of the 2016 recruiting class for Ohio State. From Erasmus High School in Brooklyn NY, Wint had planned to take all of his visits and then make a decision on his future. But plans changed on Saturday when Wint verbally committed to Urban Meyer and Ohio State. OSU was the one school that he did officially visit, and he loved everything about the program. He became the 18th member of a class that already ranks in the top 5 nationally.

Wint has his eyes set on making an impact right away with the news that several underclassmen defensive backs will be leaving for the NFL this spring (Tyvis Powell and Eli Apple). He also liked the focus of the team on winning the National Championship every year when he came to Columbus. A strong Senior year put Wint on the radar of many teams but having ex-teammate receiver Curtis Samuel already a member of the Buckeyes was helpful for the team. Chris Ash was also hoping to get Wint on his new team at Rutgers. He was also previously committed to Temple.

Wint feels that his game is similar to Vonn Bell’s game, being able to cover well and make tackles at the line of scrimmage. He also comes to Ohio with a little bit of chip on his shoulder that New York players aren’t recruited the way players in Ohio are sought after. Wint is rated near the 140th best athlete in the country by several services.

New Ohio State defensive coach Greg Schiano was helpful in recruiting Wint in addition to Ed Warinner, who handles high schools in the area.
