Anthony Schlegel- The New Strength Coach For Buckeyes

Anthony Schlegel has been named the new assistant strength coach for the Ohio State Football team. For Schlegel, it is a return to his alma mater after a short stint in the UFL and two NFL seasons.  Anthony Schlegel is a former player of the Ohio State Football team. He will start his new coaching stint for Ohio from Monday.

At middle linebacker, Schlegel started seventeen games for Buckeyes during the 2004 and 2005 season.

With eighty-two tackles, he was 2nd on the team during his senior season. He also found a mention in the honorable All Big Ten.

In the 2006 season, he played four games for New York Jets. A third round NFL draft-pick, Schlegel got released before the start of the 2007 season.

Cincinnati Bengals picked him the very next day he was released. Schlegel started five games for them and appeared in a total of 13 games and ended the season with thirty-three tackles to his name.

The last season he played for Florida Tuskers of the UFL but a shoulder injury caused him to end the season prematurely. He had 22 tackles to his name before receiving the injury.

He started his college football career for Air Force in the season of 2001. He was the team captain the next season and ended the season with 116 tackles. He was the leading performer for Falcons that season.

He came to Ohio State in 2003 and thanks to his hunting passions, made a name for himself as a colorful member of the team.

Schlegel got early support at his new job from Andrew Sweat

After the first winter workout day of the team, the soon going to be senior Sweat made known his approval of Schlegel’s appointment as strength coach through his Twitter post. He said it was great to work out with Schlegel.

Anthony Schlegel will replace Doug Davis who is now headed to Kent State to work with  Darrell Hazell, their head coach. Davis worked as Buckeyes strength coach for the last four seasons.
