Kyle Dodson Loves Urban Meyer and Ohio State

Making the switch from Wisconsin to Ohio State was the right decision for Kyle Dodson who likes everything about the Buckeyes. Dodson fell in the love with the school, the football program and the coaches during the late stages of the recruiting process as the new coaches took over the program that struggled during the 2011 season. If Urban Meyer had been the coach the entire year or the 2011 season for the Buckeyes had turned out better, a late change of commitment might not have been needed. Yet everything came out perfect in the end with the in-state prospect staying close to home and loving his college selection.

We first asked Dodson about his ability on the playing field in a recent interview. “My best attributes at the moment are my quick feet, explosiveness speed and football IQ.” Being a highly rated left tackle makes him incredibly valuable to a team looking to build a solid offensive line for the next 3-4 years.

“The highlight of my high school career was beating Maple Heights this year and making it the first time in my schools history.” He explained to us about his career at Cleveland Heights High School.

Dodson took his recruiting seriously and looked at many programs. “I made a lot of collage visits and they were great, I was looking for a homey feeling, a great education, and great coaches who are good people.” He reported to us. Having offers from near 20 different schools in the best conferences in the country, he visited Ohio State, Auburn, Michigan State, USC, and Wisconsin before deciding.

He really likes his decision to be a Buckeye. “I love that OSU is so close and I love Urban Meyer.”
