Taylor McNamara Highly Sought After 2012 Tight End Recruit

With over 18 scholarship offers early in the 2012 recruiting season, San Diego CA tight end Taylor McNamara has no favorites at this time. Arizona, California, Colorado Stanford, UCLA and USC have all offered from the Pacific Time Zone. But others including Ohio State, Florida State, Miami (FL), Notre Dame and Michigan have put their hats into the ring. At 6’5”, 235 lbs. and 4.75 speed, has the size major colleges look for in a pass catching tight end.

We asked McNamara recently about the best part of his high school career so far. “The highlight of my high school career has been enjoying the experience of high school with my friends and developing the great relationships I have with my coaches.” He explained to us about Westview.

Just back from a UCLA visit, he has also visited Stanford and USC. “I've seen Stanford and USC so far and will be visiting Cal and Arizona in April.” On his UCLA visit he was able to speak with coaches Rick Neuheisel and Tim Hundley, enjoyed the practice atmosphere, and met several players.

With all the interest in McNamara you would think the pressure would be on him to commit early, but he is taking his time in making a selection. “I'll probably take my officials during the season and then make a decision.”

And he has not grown to favor a team at this point in the process. “Don't have any favorites at this point.” he explained to us about his level of interest overall.
