Ohio State has secured commitments from two high-ranking running back recruits for their 2012 class and the first one to verbally commit was Warren Ball from St Francis DeSales in Columbus, Ohio. Ball is a 6’2” 200 lbs tailback considered the 9th best senior in the state of Ohio this year. He also received offers from Cincinnati, Iowa, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and Wisconsin.

We asked Warren Ball recently about is ability on the field. “My best attributes as a football player would be my work ethic, hard-nose running style and the mentality of giving it my all in order for my team to win.” he told us.

Going to the state championship is always a special event for a high school athlete and Ball got the opportunity two years ago. “The highlight of my high school career would be making it to the Division 3 State Championship in 2009, my sophomore year.”

He signed early with Ohio State, September 1st, not allowing for much recruiting. “I have made no other college visits, besides Ohio State.” he explained to us when we contacted him recently. He was the 2nd player in the 2012 class right behind line backing prospect Josh Perry. The class should be smaller than the 2011 class but already features Ball and GlenOak running back Bri’onte Dunn.

Ball was looking at academics and the community when he selected the University. “In a college, I'm looking for a place where I can receive a great education, receive a degree and enjoy the community/ campus life.” But he was also a lifelong fan of the team and it had been his dream to play for them. “In a football program I'm looking for a program that has a good tradition, and a consistent winning tradition... Ohio State.”

What really stands out in his mind is the tradition, ”What I like most about Ohio State is their great tradition both on the field and off...Go Bucks.”
